Don't be daft, Samsung are the suppliers because they gave the best price.
Samsung will also be locked into supply contracts anyway, and they interfered with them, Samsung would be in a world of hurt, not just from Apple and litigation, but every other company they supply.
And don't you believe there aren't alternatives for Apples component supplies either - every company that can build something that Samsung already does has been on the phone this week to Apple.
The end result in all of this is that Samsung are putting at risk an $8bn turnover for copying a customers phone design.
Even if Samsung win any of these suits, Samsung will lose the $8bn turnover, and will hand their component rivals the same amount.
The question at the end of the day is whether the Galaxy/Tab/S/S2 are really worth $8bn a year - which they aren't.
So who loses? Samsung every time.

Quite recently, Samsung attempted to take over Sandisk, the NAND flash memory company. It wasnt successful due to some differences in price offers. That alone tells you that Samsung is willing to strangle hold the market even more than it already has. NAND flash market alone, Samsung has over 30 % of the market all to itself. For RAM memory, it close to 40%.

there is a small blue streak that showed up on my ipad 1 screen. The warranty is up on friday. Wondering if I can fix it myself.

Agreed, .mac had a solid, sensible, identifiable connotation. I wasn't a mac guy at the time, but it whenever I'd see it, conveyed that Apple was providing a decent service package for it's users. "me" just seemed needlessly self-absorbed, and conveys nothing useful. "Castle" sounds like somebody in marketing trying hard to be clever.
I wish they'd simplify, combine & condense all these services, give all their iTunes and new hardware customers an account, and give at least one or two services away free to get people using it in some capacity. ...find my iPhone/iPad, or contact/cal/limited storage push syncing... But just go back to calling the whole package ".mac" again. Clean, short, clear, promotes the brand without being obnoxious.
It'll never be '.mac' again. Apple's ecosystem has changed too much since then, and it's not all about the Mac anymore. But I agree they need a free service which at very least includes syncing between devices, and a small amount of online storage.

For the icons I am using Flurry (http://iconfactory.com/search/freeware/flurry) for my entire system. There is a total of 5 packs you can find in that link. And for others like specific folders and apps you can find a lot on DeviantArt (http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/icons/?qh=§ion=&q=flurry)
As for the stacks list view I use Tinkertool (http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html). Its a free app for accessing hidden OS X features, just click on the "dock" tab and beside "stacks" tick off "use large, grid-like style for list view"

hello,
my nano 2g recently did started doing something strange.
the buttons work properly when i press them. I can click, turn the ipod on and off, but the touch wheel function does not work at all. if I slide my thumb, no result shows on the ipod.
troubleshooting actions taken: I reset the ipod, downloaded a new version if itunes, and restored to factory settings.
no applecare at this point. I am willing to replace parts myself if need be.
any info on similar problems is helpful

I don't care for the front end, but I think it's an improvement. Call me crazy? We're not talking about the Passat CC here, but the one that looks like a Nissan Altima, Honda Accord, Pontiac G8, or another half dozen other cars on the road with almost the exact same body shape.
It's not that great anyway, the front sucks - it looks way too cheap and undignified for a car of that size, eh whatever.
I wish car manufacturers would try harder to make their cars look DIFFERENT instead of the same. Yes, I'm a car nerd and I know the difference between a VW and a Honda, but what's scary is Honda doesn't want you to know - **** look at Hyundai, they want you to see the Genesis and think it's a BMW.. that's DUMB!
So yea, I do see where they're coming from, but the body lines are cleaner and the back door treatment looks a LOT better (they stole it from Audi, for sure) than the giant hoffmeister kink and straight diagonal line down the side.
As for the new Civic, look at the pieces of platsic/metal they used in between the glass to make em smaller/squarer - it appears they're trying to cut costs in order to make up for the 'expensive' interior. Yep, that's what car design is coming down to - people want fancy interiors and don't care what the outside of the car looks like.
I kinda like what they did with the sedan, but I hate the hoffmeister kink. It started on Fords in the 50s (I think), and just like flame surfacing was copied by BMW, and should've stayed with BMW lol.

(http://www.copyright.gov/1201/) You'll be seeing these ads until at least 2012, when the statute expires until otherwise renewed. Not surprising that Google is advertising perfectly legal activity, considering that they advertise everything whenever they can.

I am actually trying to find several Think Different posters for our new Mac Lab at our High School. I don't even mind if they are authentic and would actually prefer something more affordable.
The Think Different posters would add a great touch but would like to find any Apple related posters I could frame and decorate our new lab.

I know rumors aren't good to use, but I'm sure there were pre-production parts for the iPhone4 showing up by this time last year, maybe the fact that there isn't gives more credibility to the next version coming later.
Keep in mind that they totally revamped the form last year. They might not do that this year so the iPhone 5 touchscreen could be the same as the iPhone 4. So these suppliers might not know that they are building parts for the new one
I disagree, whether you call it a refresh or all new phone, several things must be addressed by Apple in the current model:
1. replace back glass with metal or carbon fiber enclosure;
2. replace antenna design;
3. use 4" screen, even at same resolution;
4. offer 64gb model.
Or not. Apple is not required to follow your wish list about any product. No matter how clever you think your ideas

I didn't get a 4 because I was holding out for a bigger screen. I really want to keep buying Apple products. But at this point, if the phone is delayed or the screen is staying the same size, I am going to have to start checking out some of the HTCs. My 3G is almost unusable since OS4.

I think that Apple MAY start selling computers (in what ever form they come) with subscriptions to "iCloud". They can save costs by throwing in a small SSD with enough space for iOS (which will be on all Apple machines by default) and letting users subscribe to the iCloud for space.
All at an amazing discount, much like the iPhone. Millions of users are doing this with their iPhones, not realizing (really) how much their iPhone is costing them over time. $199 just sounds like a great price. Imagine that, but it's an iMac for only $399 and $14.99 for an iCloud account. If you don't want an iCloud account, you pay regular price. This model works well for the iPhone.
You can always get local space, by buying your own hard drive and adding it.
I really don't know, but this idea came to me. I'm interested in seeing how MobileMe is going to change this year and if Apple comes up with something like this.

Samsung know they are in trouble with the Apple suits, and rightly so. But instead of just defending the suit against them, they are making stuff up to get back at Apple.
What it is, is childish.
you really should go look up how it works before you start insulting us.
I was not talking crap. That little tid pit I put in about the filing only if getting pissed off and sued came form our resident patent lawyer on these boards who explain why many times you only see law suits after they get sued. They go into the file if sued by so and so bring these up.
That is why many of these patents are filed away and never really sued unless antoher company starts pissing you off or acting childish like Apple. It gives you more leverage to use against them in their lawsuit against you.
I do find it funny. Fanboys cheered when Apple sued Samsung but Samsung responds and now called Samsung childish.
Fanboys call Kodak pantint trolls when they sued apple.
Fanboys cheer when Apple sued Nokia but booed about Nokia sueing apple.
Noticed a pattern there.
