Does anyone know if they are available from today in the retail stores?
The new MacBook Pros are available from the online Apple Store. The new MacBook Pros will ship next week.
That was in the story

Yes, thank you. At least someone else out there is emotionally distanced enough from the iPod and the Apple entertainment sector to be a bit objective.
Innovation: just what happened to Apple's innovative spirit when it comes to computers? The latest Mac Pro was fitted into the existing (and way oversized) G5 case. The MacBook was disappointing in that - proportionally - Apple did not shrink it at all or make it lighter than its predecessor (a design which had been in existence for about four years). There are more things, but I really don't want to sound like a troll here...
Apple needs to come out with new computer models that are unlike anything else out there. What about a tiny, thin ultraportable? What about a smaller tower, so those of us that want a pro computer don't have to invest in an oversized monster (which is larger than any PCs in the market that I am aware of). Aren't computers supposed to get SMALLER as the technology advances? Why is Apple obsessed with making the iPod smaller and smaller, but does not care as much about its laptops and desktops?
The answer: profit, or course. The iPod is Apple's cash cow. And this, my friends, is what I mean when I say that Apple needs to be partitioning off a little of its innovative energy that it is putting into its entertainment sector and bring it back to the computer line.
Understood now?
OK, now fire away :)
Maybe it is because most of the resources and dollars were going into the new intel archetecture. Not enough time and too drastic of a change to entirely redo the form factor as well. Jesus what else did you want? Rebuilding of the great wall? An overhaul of the IRS taxcode? One step at a time my friend, one step at a time.

Apples moving forward, kind of neat after all the years of stagnation. 2 Big updates in 1 year vs a minor hiccup after 1 year. This is good stuff.

I'll say it before, and I'll say it again, this is a critical time for Apple and it's no time to be an Apple apologist. It's time to hold Apple's feet to the fire. Being soft on them isn't helping them. It's just enabling them not to realize their full potential.
OSX is good, but that's no reason for complacency. If Apple doesn't work out these bugs (and I know of more than a few irritating ones, besides the kernal vulnerabilities) it's not going to remain a quality product.

UGh. What a mess. Waited in line for 8 hours and they are sold out. So angry right now.
Yeah, Brea was a complete f_cking mess. I was only a little ways ahead of you in line (in front of Macys), having waited in line since 10AM. By the time I got to the front, they were completely sold out of 16GB WiFi, and out of ALL AT&T models. I ended up picking up a Verizon 32GB. Didn't really want Verizon, but whatever.
Brea was allowing two purchases per person, and half of the people towards the front of the line were holding places for 4-5+ other people. So while there were about 170 people in front of me in line for the 8 hours I was waiting, that 170 turned into over 300 very quickly when family and friends started arriving.
Bottom line is that they should never have allowed two purchases per person. While some friendly neighbors in line saved my place, I hit the restroom near the food court a few times, and distinctly heard some people near the front talking about buying two and selling them on ebay.

Okay first off I like the framing in this. That little building doesn't feel cut off really, with that dominating focal point above it. I seriously love the placement of it, and how the picture just spans to the left. The lighting is superb. I love it, is really all I can say. You can see the golden highlights on the trees and the glow everywhere on the foliage. The saturated colors are lifelike and real to the photograph. You also positioned the focal point well. It's slightly under the curve of the hillside. This lets you take in the object with color popping it out all around.
This photo is better than I can do outside with nature. I really love this. That golden hour you shot at shows well. That is quite the capable lens! Loving this pic.

If you look at Charlie's character on the show and really every character he has ever played they all mirror his real life. He has made millions playing a party animal that sleeps around. No wonder he is so delusional now.

Whaa? That young? I have a 4 year old MBP that just about copes with aperture.
MBP = 4 years old
iMac = 3 years old
And both will be upgraded to Lion. No problems yet , even 1080p content plays well, slight lag to catch up when RWD or FF other than that no problems. :)

Yeah, "accidentally," sure. The price and the buttons on the app store are clearly labeled. You don't just "accidentally" purchase this. It's only believable if the kid is still an infant and randomly tap on stuff, but 11 year old?
Maybe he was hunting for an Easter Egg.... :)

3 month supply set me back $70 with copay. $370 with no insurance!! Boys are lucky.
I feel like such a scientist (well, I am) when I giggled at the structure. :D
Yet, I'm sad nobody else understood it. How is pharm going?
edit: Ordered a new faceplate for my worn out radio.

Stop taking my words out of context and twisting them to your advantage...
I never said that but I would be suspicious of said human
I'm confused. What part of his stance should we sympathize with if we were in his shoes?

Is the reset you're referring to is in Settings - General -Reset - Reset all settings? Will it erase the sms/messages or email accounts setting?
Thx
All of the preferences you have set on the iPhone will be set back to factory default, but your data and media will still remain on the device.

At $79 a year it will probably be 5 years before the program moves to a commonly useful level where it may have the ability to replace MS Office. The very casual Word Processor user will not have to wait very long, maybe Pages 3 or Pages 4. With the 5 X $79 = $395 we move into the price range of the non-educational price of MS Office. But for the heavy Office user, 5 years may not be long enough...
Hmm... Let's start with the idea of present value. $79 spent a year from now isn't worth $79 today. So, $79 a year for the next five years is actually only worth $300-$361 (assuming a possible APR of between 3% and 10%). Now, that's compared with $399.95 for Office. Hmm. But there's another factor here. If a given upgrade doesn't have any features that are compelling to you, you don't have to get it. Wow! That would mean that iWork would be even less!
Now, all of that being said, of course if iWork isn't functional for you now you shouldn't get it. But if it is, as this thread has shown that there are a lot of us out here for whom it, in fact, is, then there's no reason for us not to get it. So, all around, I'd argue that iWork is a cost savings over MS Office, even if you upgrade every time.
Plus, if all you need to make it a worthwhile office suite is a spreadsheet, then there are a variety of options at various price points. These include OpenOffice Calc, KOffice KSpread (both free), Mariner Calc, etc.

Quit trying to shuffle responsibility off on someone else for your mental shortcomings. Sure, people make mistakes, that's life. But to suggest that Apple guard you from your own idiocy - seriously? The current crop of gen XYZ'ers are stuck in that entitlement loop of, "I can do no wrong - it's obviously your fault for allowing it to happen to me."
When I was 11 I knew damn well what I was doing. I got my ass smacked when I got caught, too. It taught me not to get caught.

Hmmm...I've never seen a power adapter on a plane, and I flew a few days ago (on a cheapo airline, but still...). Core 2 Duo isnt that much of an upgrade, its "only" 1.4X, which to some people would make a lot of difference but to me it doesnt. Whats that, like a second faster on most tasks? Not worth the wait. Also, whats the word on CPU buzz?
