Out of interest, does anyone know anything about a special offer on Macs bought on Friday, because I seem to remember reading that there was a 10% discount on all Macs bought on the day that Tiger was released? Has anyone heard about anything like this?

I have been at legacy since 7:30. They set up where the lines would go abOut an hour ago. Quite a few people have shuffled in and out of the store but no one is lined up outside. I'll just have to keep waiting.

Where the Fit excels is its interior volume. It is seriously like the Tardis in its ability to betray its small appearance on the outside with its actual capacity inside. For example, I have filled it with a family of four's luggage and knick-knacks for a week-long trip, with room to spare.
Mileage is as advertised, mostly high-20's squirting around town, nearer to high-30's with the cruise set for hours at highway speeds. I don't have the knowledge to compare it to the Prius, but I will say that the Fit's interior fit-and-finish, while well-detailed and more than adequate, is "cheaper" than the Prius, and maybe even my old Civic's.
While it won't win many drag races, it is a fun runabout, as it's probably the shortest wheelbase car I've ever owned. Meaning, it "hops" over bumps and sneezes will put you in the adjacent lane. I haven't driven a Mini Cooper, but I suspect the sensations are similar.
I'd buy one again in a heartbeat.

I saw a big, tall, fat guy step out of an S and he told me that the S model was made people his size. I am no skinny person, but certainly not the size of that guy. I was amazed and the S model has intrigued me ever since.

That is hiding specs from people that would really like to know. That is the people who read the spec sheets and have good reason to do so. Little things add up be it the RAM in an iPhone/iPad, what the SD slot is capable of or any of a number of other devices that are poorly speced on the machine. Is it that difficult to just be honest with your users? Further where is the advantage of not coming clean?
And you managed to spin something positive into a negative... bravo!

I am tempted to buy one for this reason. I was able to look at one in a store earlier today and wow, its ugly.. I really prefer the look of the DSi a lot more, the 3DS just looks horrible compared to the DSi.
The 3D aspect really means nothing to me as I cannot see anything in 3D (glasses based or this I assume) because of my vision issues. The idea of having better graphics compels me, however I'm not sure if I will get one just yet.
The screens are more vibrant on top of that.
The 3D is an option. The better graphics alone is worth it - though I'm hoping it's not going to be all just "updated" N64 games.
If you are not using the 3D - I'd wait until the price drops and maybe a slimmer version is available...

Pages and Numbers are much easier to use, and far nicer to look at than Office. If I don't need the horsepower I prefer iWork. If I do need the horsepower I have Office 2003 running on a late 2009 mini that is Windows 7 only. Office 2003 works great with W7, and it's not all blue looking like some of the newer versions.
As usual Windows runs MS software much better than Mac OS does.
They made Mac OS office very similar to the windows counterpart in the 2011 version. Granted its not 100% the same but the gap between office 2011 on mac and office 2011 on windows is very tiny now.

So I'm willing to bet that Apple looked at their server farms and thought, "Dang, we'd be stupid to put Xserves in here. Um, why are we building these things again?"

Nobody is upset that after 4+ years they're STILL using the chrome back?!?!?Yes this still bothers me. It makes great demo, to borrow a phrase from Fearless Leader, but it's scratched in some way in the first 5 minutes and after a month, Ugh... after a year: Scratchapalooza.

Indeed, in his early career he was behind a lot of one-hit novelty songs so I think its a tad hypocritical that he's now turning his nose up at such songs for being 'horrible'.
I think we were getting to a point where [the Christmas chart] was all becoming like The Millennium Prayer, and I just didn't like that song.Now, I didn't like that song myself either – and I'm certainly not a Cliff Richard fan. However, I was delighted when that song got to number one, simply because DJs and people like Cowell were so opposed to it doing so.
See, he song didn't have anything like the airplay or marketing behind it that the manufactured crap that fills the charts does – and in fact the reaction it got from sneering DJs was poor at best – but it got to number one simply because Cliff had enough fans and enough people liked the song that it was able to sell more copies than the sort of stuff Cowell and his cronies would prefer us to buy instead.
So fair play to Cliff for that, and I'd rather have proper musicians like him or Rage Against The Machine topping the charts this Christmas than some spotty oik doing a cover of, of all things, a Hannah Montana song.

Serious out of over 400,000 members on this forum we have 69 members contribiting to folding@home. Even so team Macrumors.com is ranked 58 world wide, thats an incredible thing. We used to be ranked 23, years ago there is no reason we can't grow again!
