Guess no one here has ever heard of block/byte level data de-duplication? 12PB goes a long way..
interesting concept - if used to store mobileme type data and with original content like videos taken with hd video capable phones, is dedup as effective - just wondering -

This is the very reason why I think that Apple's policy should be reconsidered. Why would content providers such as the Financial Times be compelled to offer their content on iOS, when Apple requires them to (additionally) use the in-app purchases by which the providers lose the advantage of using their own register and keeping the entire revenue, without having to share it with Apple.
The Financial Times didnt have this new revenue stream before Apple offered it to them. Why wouldnt apple share profits? To me its more about keeping companies away from data collecting on their prey...i mean peons... i mean customers.

I wouldn't suspect the PSU as source of KPs. Never happened in my years of experience with Macs (about few hundreds of units I had in my hands). Ticking sound it's separate issue IMO. Firstly I'd remove all but 1 stick of RAM. If you have more than one, test all separately. HDD (or corrupted files on it) would be a second suspect.

Anyway, they might just be waiting for a Quicktime X upgrade in Lion.
Then again the Mac Pro interfaces are on their last breath, LightPeak could prove really important in that industry.

Can we please stop calling it a "2G" Shuffle now? That is the single stupidest naming convention I have ever seen, and will continue to cause confusion well into the future. Even "G2" and up is better now, thanks to the demise of the PowerPC.

Wouldn't you save more money, though, in a case like mine:
450 anytime minutes: $30
Unlimited Text: $20
Total: $50
Dropping to Unlimited text & m2AM, keeping current voice plan: $20
or am I completely reading that wrong (which isn't surprising, given a 60-hour work week & severe lack of sleep)?
JFred,
seems like you have an older calling plan and presumably no smart phone?? If this is the case, you may qualify. Not so sure it is that low cost with people with smart phones.

I've a few books on the artist and its amazing how varied his work and how influential he was (like Van Gogh and Whistler). He was prolific and I usually get my desktops with a google image search
There are some good image repositories/ information, if you're interested here's a link to one (and a picture very different but very interesting at the same time)

Jobs (and most of us here) are missing the point. It's not about getting a release window for the next iteration of FCP, it's about running a business and the need to plan according to a supplier's roadmap. This is one area where Apple totally blows: without awareness of basic features, likely timelines, and a clear product commitment, it's nerve wracking and borderline irresponsible to use Apple products in the backbone of any business.
Cue the apologists, but I've been in the driver's seat on this and for serious professionals it is an abuse that Apple should stop. If a product is claimed to be for professional use, then give the professionals the information they need to plan and run their business. If you don't get why this matters, I'm going to guess you've never run a business where you had the responsibility for people's livelihood on your shoulders.
You don't need to know a year ahead of Apple's product launch dates to run your business. There are lots of professionals using 5 year old software to get their millions of dollars of worth work done. I like software upgrades as much as the next guy, but just because it's cool to install new stuff, not that I'll be able to do much more than I can do right now with the new software.

yes, it was not showing cache size, it shows none... my temps were to on the higher 30's on idle, but never cranked up as high as 58 like before I installed CHUD, that it maintains the temperature at 56 the lowest even on idle. Good luck with it and enjoy your PMG4 Dual MDD...

I don't really doubt the facts here, though, just that this email is real.

Pop culture has that lowest common denominator appeal about it; that's why it's popular. Good luck on raising that bar. But let's not kid ourselves here - he was fined for PC reasons, albeit trivially so given the size of his paychecks. Otherwise, we wouldn't be seeing half of the NBA tripping over themselves to issue statements and apologies and conduct investigations.
That IS very true. Usually "pop culture" influences and is taken up by two major groups...kids...and the lower classes. The artists often target these groups and as for the kids...well, it's hard to stop them from "speaking thier minds" because the are just all about spur of the moment. And they would say things without even realizing what it means or the consequences...some simply don't care.
The "lower classes" aren't as educated so many will also adopt "pop culture" from TV or wherever they get it from without realizing what impact it has on others arround them and in the different environments. Fore example, you would see more educated and/or high class people with "manners" in such sensitive situations vs. like a bunch of "blue collar red necks" so to speak. Even when you're just out of adolescence, you can see this distiguishment. What I've found is that in general "harvard types" interact differently from "community college types". And this fits even later in life although "most" older ppl would have matured to a certain extent. Not to mention that "harvard types" are much rarer than "community college types" so hence...where "pop culture" thrives more.

The battery life point is a good one. I hadn't thought of that (battery life has never affected me since I charge up whenever I get home). They could increase the battery life for the next revisions. So battery life and storage.
And I guess increased storage could be used as a USB key. I'd like to see them get rid of the dock and go back to the Shuffle plugging right into your USB port. (I think this used to be the case? Never owned a Shuffle.) So useful for file storage. In that case, basically any size Shuffle could be useful.
