Just went to the Best Buy across my street that had the iPad 2 in there deals of the week thingy and they said they would have a ton, went an hour early they don't have any, 10 minutes prior to store opening they don't have any. They said they aren't getting any but you can put $100 down to reserve one to get it by the beginning of May. Fk that, online Apple store it is for the same amount of time. Also target's, toy's r'us, etc don't have any even though they say they do. Just a heads up if you're in a booming city on the east coast.

Interesting article on Vista. I expect MS will copy Apple and build the next OS around a Linux or FreeBSD kernel.

eInk sounds interesting for B&W eBook readers and the like, less so if you want a Video iPod as well, at least at this stage.

The drivers are part of the OS.
Apple did not write all of the OS much of it comes from BSD UNIX and some more of it comes from CMU's Mach. Many (most?) of the hundreds of applications that ship with Mac OSX are Open Source that Apple did not write.
We shouldn't care much about if Apple employees wrote the code or if they hired the job out of it the downloaded an Open Source application off the Internet. If the software has a problem it needs to be fixed.
The danger of only quoting part of a post is that you will miss the fact that the poster said pretty much the exact same thing. I was pointing out that it wasn't Apple's code, but I pointed out that they still needed to fix it.

How about we cut sweetheart pension deals for politicians that pay them 100s of thousands of dollars every year.
I'm not to familiar with Canada's finances, but that kind of thing is literally a drop in the bucket in ANY country's budgets. That couldn't possibly even add up to billion. Thats not nearly enough to offset the kind of cuts that education faces in this country, again I'm not sure of Canada's situation though.

I think that my objection to a book like this for atheists is that there is no reason to believe that the author of the book's morals or opinions are anymore important or better than anyone else's.
He is a human, I am a human. Neither one of us claim to be divinely inspired and both of us are looking out for our selfish interests in one way or another.
As people, we need to base our morality on avoiding suffering (I believe that this should extend to all animals who can comprehend suffering or dread). This is not an objective matter. Discretion, not rulebooks.

It really doesn't mean much to me, since I have had their entire catalog on cd since 1987...
The money they are talking about doesn't really go to the Beatles, since the Beatles were bad financial managers when they were together, they get very little of this money. They all made their fortunes after the brake up...;)

I love this temporary state of chaos, when you know it's fresh from the table, because only half the site has been updated (MB page itself, press release, store have been updated, but front page, product list page etc. hasn't) :D
EDIT: And it's that fresh that everything was updated in the time it took me to type that sentence and click 'post' :D
Haha yeah, I just noticed that awihle ago. I guess the middle level macbook is still the way to go for the bargain.

I'll make this point again... How is what Apple is doing any different than what Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony do with approvals for applications on their devices? If anything, Apple should be commended for giving everyone access to the development environment at a significantly reduced cost. The reason for the approval process is clear: they want to do QA before the product is released because if something bad happens, every news organization will feature headlines about it for a week.
Microsoft does offer a way for anyone to make apps creators.xna.com (http://creators.xna.com). If I remember correctly your game get peer reviewed, and can be sold on the 360 for a small fee after passing peer review. There is also Kodu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodu_Game_Lab) which allows pretty much anyone to code for Microsoft Platforms with an Alice like language (not saying it is the best thing in the world, but it is a easy start).

it seems that there is no longer an option for the "matte" screen, only the glossy one.
also, and this is a guess, the new airport cards are the same as the pre-n ones found in recent MBPs and iMacs.

To me, this just feels like a slap in the face to ipad2 owners :(
And please don't tell me that I don't want a reasonable quality camera in my tablet. Just because you don't.
I would not be surprised if they fitted 1gb or memory in the next iPhone to as another punch in the guts to iPad buyers.

Sounds great. Better than carrying a real book around (*assuming you don't run out of batteries ).
There are ebook readers for PDAs and Smartphone - there's no reason why it shouldn't work with iPods.
Good progression of the iPod.

The easiest way to get one right now is to watch the Walmart site and check out the in-store availability. I keep seeing them come and go here, but at least you can see if they have any before driving around.
BTW... I went to get mine and missed it by minutes. :( Showed on-line and was sold by the time I got there.
Oh... This Best Buy deal... by the looks of it, this BIG promotion by Best Buys was just a shame to get people in the store. I'm not a big fan of Best Buys.

As WWDC approaches, a number of images (mostly fake) and last minute speculation continue to emerge. The most notable tidbits:
- Robert Scoble (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/laptops/robert-scoble-says-there-will-be-a-dizzying-amount-of-new-products-at-wwdc-191572.php) claims that Apple is "readying a dizzying amount of new products" reportedly based on inside information. (previous claim (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2003/02/20030218034443.shtml)).
- A WWDC Banner photo (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/08/20060803110323.shtml) (mirror (http://guides.macrumors.com/Image:Wwdc2006.jpg)) has been revealed, showing off the usual development icons. No clear new announcements have been revealed, but Apple is prominently displaying the "64-bit" emblem.
- It appears that Apple will be distributing a Leopard Preview build to developers at WWDC. Apple has already posted (http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/QTNoStepsDemo/index.html) some sample code with the Build Requirement: "Leopard Preview".
- More iPhone images (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/08/20060802215346.shtml) and movies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v520U3vS2iI)) (both likely fake).

Apple's decision to mix-up their refreshment cycles NOW burns me. I have been looking forward--for once--to upgrading my device at around the time the newest iPhone hits the market, and when I finally get the chance to do it, Apple (potentially) shifts the cycle. Not cool with me.
ME ME ME ME! because you want a new phone when you want it, apple sucks? geeze what are we, 12?
